Cheryl Grossman

Biography

State Representative Cheryl Grossman is currently serving her second term in the Ohio House of Representatives. She represents the 23rd House District, which includes Grove City, Hilliard, parts of Dublin, and other western portions of Franklin County, and is the Assistant Majority Whip.

Representative Grossman serves on the House’s Economic and Small Business Development Committee, the Finance and Appropriations Committee, the Finance Subcommittee on Transportation, the Rules and Reference Committee, State Government Committee, State Government Subcommittee on Redistricitng, and the Ad hoc Tax Structure Review committee.  She is Chair of the Ohio Housing Study Committee.

Representative Grossman served as mayor of Grove City from 1996 to 2008. Prior to her service as mayor, she was elected as Council Member-at-Large as well as Grove City Council President from 1994 to 1995. She is a current board member on the Central Ohio YMCA Metropolitan Board, the Columbus-Franklin County Impact Community Action Agency, the Southwest Education Foundation and the Grove City Rotary Club. Representative Grossman is a member of the Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce, Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.

Representative Grossman is a former executive board member of the Franklin County Emergency Management Association and a past member of the Ohio Retirement Study Council. She previously served as a board member on the Public Works Integrating Committee, the Environmental Natural Resource Advisory Council, the Jobs Ready Site Committee and the National League of Cities Women in Municipal Government. She is the former president of the Central Ohio Municipal Council and served on the Columbus Chamber of Commerce Regional Economic (CORE) Leadership Group. Representative Grossman is a founding member of the Grove City Rotary Club and a past board member of the Grove City United Methodist Church.

An active participant in her community, Representative Grossman was recently awarded as the 2010 Public Servant of the Year Award by the Komen for the Cure Foundation.  She was recognized for her conservative principles as she was awarded the 2011 American Conservative Union Award.  She was honored as the 2005 Columbus Board of Realtors Citizen of the Year and received the South-Western Education Association Leadership Award in 2001 and 2007. She is also a recipient of the Good Shepherd Award presented by the Southwest Ministerial Association and the American Cancer Society’s Impact Award for her leadership and achievements with Relay for Life.

Representative Grossman is a lifelong resident of Grove City. She and her husband Ron are proud parents of their son Justin and his wife Emily, and son Joshua.
